The Denim House
Frequently Asked Questions
How The Denim House works, how items are graded, and what to expect when you order.
What does "secondhand condition" mean?
Every piece is individually inspected and graded before it is listed. New with Tags means unworn deadstock with original tags. Pre-Owned means previously worn — the listing notes and photos describe the exact condition, and we photograph flaws when they exist rather than hide them.
Separately, some pieces carry a Distressed / Worn-In characteristic: visible fading, patina, repairs or rugged workwear character. That is a style trait, not a defect — a distressed piece can still be in excellent condition.
Are all items one of a kind?
Almost always. Because every piece is individually sourced, most listings have exactly one available. When an item shows "One of a kind — only one available," that reflects the live inventory count for that item.
If something you want has sold, similar pieces arrive regularly — join the newsletter to hear about new finds first.
How are sizes listed?
For jeans and pants we list the tagged size (for example 32x30) alongside measured flat-lay dimensions in the item's measurements table — and men's jeans can be filtered by waist and inseam independently. Shirts and outerwear use standard letter sizes, and women's clothing uses one consolidated size filter. Sizing varies between brands and eras, so we always recommend checking the measured dimensions before ordering.
What counts as vintage?
Only a small share of our inventory is true vintage. Vintage status comes from the listing title: a piece qualifies only when its title starts with "Vintage" (optionally after "New"), such as "Vintage Lee Rider Jeans". A title that merely mentions vintage somewhere else does not qualify.
The full vintage selection lives in its own collection, and vintage pieces also appear in Men's and Women's when they match. Most of the store is contemporary pre-owned clothing.
Do you accept returns?
Yes — see our Shipping & Returns page for the current policy, timing and condition requirements for returns.
How do you decide what to buy?
We look for well-made garments from brands with a proven record of durability — Levi's, Lee, Wrangler, Carhartt and similar makers — in condition and cuts we would wear ourselves. Quality and longevity come before trend.
When will more items arrive?
New finds are added continuously as they are sourced, photographed and measured. The New Arrivals collection always shows the latest additions.
